What a Therapy Intensive Is

Weekly Therapy Is Powerful.
But Some Moments in Life Require Something More.

A therapy intensive is not a longer version of a regular session. It is a fundamentally different format. In traditional weekly sessions, a significant portion of the hour is spent re-establishing context before you can reach the deeper material. An intensive removes that constraint — with a half-day or full-day format, there is time to go where the weekly model rarely reaches, and to stay there long enough for something to actually shift.

Intensives at Brain & Heart Healing are available for couples and individuals, designed for specific circumstances where depth and concentrated time are the right clinical tool.

Who This Is For

An Intensive May Be Right for You If...

For Individuals

  • You are at a pivotal decision point and need clinical support — not fragmented across months of weekly sessions
  • A deeply rooted pattern has resisted weekly work and you are ready to approach it differently
  • You have limited availability for ongoing weekly appointments but want meaningful progress
  • You are processing a major loss, transition, or life disruption that feels too large for the standard container

For Couples

  • You are in a relational crisis and weekly sessions feel too slow
  • You are preparing for a major decision about the relationship and need time and space to make it clearly
  • You have been in couples therapy before and want to accelerate the work you are already doing
  • You are navigating a specific rupture — infidelity, a significant breach of trust — and need more than 50 minutes to begin

Common Questions

The best way to determine fit is through a conversation. Book a standard session and we can assess together whether an intensive format makes clinical sense for your situation and goals.
No. Intensives are available to new clients as well as existing ones. A pre-intensive intake call is required for all clients, regardless of prior therapy history, so that the session can be structured appropriately.
Intensives are offered as a private-pay service and are not billed to insurance. A superbill can be provided upon request for clients who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement.
A brief debrief is included for full-day intensives. Many clients transition into regular weekly or bi-weekly sessions following an intensive to maintain momentum. Others complete a single intensive as a standalone experience. We will discuss what makes the most sense for your situation during intake.
For some couples, a well-timed intensive creates a breakthrough that shifts the trajectory of the relationship significantly. For others, it is a catalyst that opens the door to ongoing work. It is rarely a substitute for long-term relational work — but it can accomplish what weekly sessions sometimes cannot.
