Families Carry Pain Together.
They Can Heal Together Too.

Family therapy for conflict, disconnection, reunification, and the moments when everyone in the room is hurting and no one knows how to say so.

What Family Therapy Is Here

Every Voice in the Room Deserves to Be Heard — Including the Ones That Have Gone Quiet.

Family therapy at Brain & Heart Healing creates a structured, clinically grounded space where every member of the family system can be present without one voice dominating the room.

What looks like conflict between a parent and a teenager is often a story about belonging and safety. What looks like defiance in a child is often the language of a nervous system that hasn't yet found words. This is not about assigning the problem to one person. It is about understanding the system — and finding where the system can shift.

Who This Is For

This Work Is for Families Who...

  • Keep having the same conflict without resolution, regardless of how many times it has been addressed
  • Are navigating reunification after a separation, removal, or legal case
  • Have a child or adolescent whose behavior is signaling something the family system hasn't yet been able to name
  • Are managing the ripple effects of one member's trauma, substance use, or legal involvement
  • Want to rebuild after a rupture — without erasing the history that caused it
  • Are exhausted from trying to hold it together on their own

The Approach

The Family Is the System. The System Is Where Healing Happens.

Family therapy at Brain & Heart Healing is grounded in Family Systems Theory and Attachment Theory — two frameworks that understand the individual not in isolation, but in relationship.

Family Systems

No single person in a family is the problem. Behaviors that look like one person's issue are almost always a response to dynamics shared by the whole system. Shifting those dynamics — even slightly — can change what is possible for everyone in it.

Attachment Theory

Brings a trauma-informed lens to the relational bonds within the family — where they are secure, where they have been disrupted, and what it takes to repair them. The result is a clinical approach that holds the whole family, not just the identified patient.

Common Questions

Not necessarily. Session structure depends on the presenting concern and goals of treatment. Some families attend together every session. In others, I meet with subsets of the family before bringing the whole group together. We will determine the right structure during intake.
Yes. Meaningful change can still happen when even one member of the system begins to shift. Individual or parent-focused sessions can create ripple effects across the entire family.

Yes. Family therapy here is inclusive of all family structures — blended families, co-parenting after separation, multigenerational households, and chosen families. The definition of family is yours, not mine.
